Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has bagged another Award of Honour in recognition of his outstanding strides towards the development of the state.
The Award was bestowed on Governor Emmanuel yesterday by His Eminence Dr. Emmanuel Josiah Udofia, Primate of The African Church during the Thanksgiving Service to mark the end of the 2019 Convention of The African Church, Calabar Province held at St. Paul’s Cathedral Ibibio South Diocese, Afaha Ubium in ONNA local government area of the state.
Presenting the Award of Honour to Governor Udom Emmanuel who was represented at the occasion by the Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, the Primate of The African Church cited the Governor’s love for the things of God, service to humanity and the overall development of the state as basis for the award of honour.
His Eminence Dr. Udofia, who officiated at the Thanksgiving Service, congratulated the Governor on the success so far recorded since his assumption of office for the second term and prayed for God’s divine grace upon Governor Udom Emmanuel as he steers on the ship of leadership of the state.
Governor Udom Emmanuel who took the only Bible lesson for the Thanksgiving Service, drawn from the book of Jeremiah 4:1-6, described the the theme of the Convention, “Breaking Barriers and Limitations” as apt and timely and congratulated the Church for the successful hosting of the Convention.
The Governor expressed appreciation for the Award of Honour on him and solicited continued support and prayers from the church for the success of government programmes and activities toward the development of the state.
Top stakeholders of the State both from the religious and secular circles attended the Thanksgiving Service including, the wife of the Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Uduak Effiong Essien the Permanent Secretary Governor’s Office, Dr Nathaniel Adiakpan and wife and the Public Relations Officer of the Calabar Province of The African Church, Rt. Hon. Justin Ekong among others.
The Service witnessed songs Prayers, renditions by the choir, praise and worship, Thanksgiving, clapping and dancing.
