In furtherance of his commitment to people-oriented representation, the member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency, Hon.(Obong) Emmanuel Ukpong-udo, in response to a request for assistance, today offered succour to one of his constituents from Nsit Ikpe Ward 1, Mr. Jeremiah Sunday Akpan.
Mr. Akpan, a wholesale and retail dealer in alcoholic beverages, had his means of livelihood truncated when his relative got involved in an automobile accident resulting in a fatal injury to one of the victims. According to him, he mopped up all his personal funds and also borrowed to settle bills leading to near-bankruptcy. His inability to settle the debt landed him in police net with the creditors harassing him incessantly, making life unbearable for him.
Ukpong-udo in his characteristic show of love, made a huge donation in cash and kind to help resuscitate the business, as well as to assist Mr Akpan temporarily offset pending bills for the treatment of the accident victim.
A visibly elated Jeremiah appreciated the federal lawmaker for being sensitive to his plight and opening his arms to all irrespective of class and status. He lauded the member for reciprocating the support and solidarity he gave him during the campaigns while assuring him of his unflinching loyalty going forward.
In his response, the member represented by his Special Assistant on Special Duties, Hon. Victor Akang thanked the large crowd of supporters and party faithful for honouring the invitation at short notice. The member he said deeply regretted the unfortunate incidence that befell Mr Akpan and decided to identify with him in his trying period.
Ukpong-udo he said had made remarkable strides in his short time so far at the green chamber and was fully committed to touching as many lives as possible and leaving a lasting legacy. He assured his constituents that he will never betray the confidence reposed in him while urging them to continually pray for him so his lofty plans for the constituency come to fruition.
Several goodwill messages poured in for the member, notable among them was the Ward Chairman, Mr. Effiong Isong , Imo Okono, Kufre Markson, Sunday Nnana, Uwem Mboribo, PDP Chapter Auditor who unanimously lauded the federal lawmaker for being a trailblazer. They prayed God to bless him and grant him grace to fulfill all his campaign promises to the electorate.
