Attah Akrang, Ward Agent for PDP in Edemaya Ward 3, Ikot Abasi local government area was RW6 Sixth Witness for the First Respondent.
During Cross Examination by Counsel to the Petitioner Prof Ernest Ojukwu,SAN, he was asked if he would be surprised to know that his name is not on the register for his unit, to which he answered that he would so be surprised to be so told.
“My lord, I was duly accredited by INEC and I voted.”
The next step would have been to show him the register where his name was missing, but Prof. Ojukwu was not interested and said to the witness.
“Your name is not in the register of your polling unit”, Ojukwu asserted .
“It is not true, I’m just hearing that from you”, was the response.
Why did the Professor of law not call for the said register to show the witness and indeed the court that the witness was not visible in the register.
For Akrang, who had his PVC, and was duly accredited as PDP agent in Edemaya Ward 3, that would have been the right thing to do. But rather Ojukwu,SAN was busy compelling the witness to confirm some Exhibits that his team had earlier dumped at the tribunal, which none of them made previous reference to.
Currently, the entire media space is awash with spurious lies and imaginations of supposedly brilliant young people, celebrating that the witness was from Cameroon or was not a registered voter .what a farce. But if this is the extent their thinking faculty has degenerated, it also explains why they are hopping around with brooms under the rain.
