The Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, has frowned at the incessant destruction of Billboards across the state by unscrupulous elements, calling on the security agencies to urgently intervene before it assumes an unimaginable proportion, due to the political season that we are getting into.
In a letter to security chiefs, the State Chairman of PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo intimated that “the destruction of Billboards and political campaign materials by unknown persons has become embarrassingly rampant and consistent, there is need for us to draw the attention of the security agencies and the public to this anomaly which is fast becoming the new norm, as it is an absurd addition to the vandalism of public utilities and infrastructure, especially along the Airport road, Goodluck Jonathan Boulevard and its environs”.
Obong Paul Ekpo noted with dismay how Billboards belonging to the party and its Aspirants were maliciously destroyed and wantonly vandalized recently, suspecting that such ignoble and very provocative act is intended as a continuous and sustained action.
The Chairman further explained that as a responsible and law abiding organization, the needful was to draw the attention of the concern agencies to such troubling trend, praying that the respective and concern agencies urgently swing into action by taking the requisite steps in order to curb the menace in an effective approach.
The Party Chairman admonished all party faithful and supporters to remain calm and law abiding.
