…promise New Party Secretariat Employment Opportunities
One of the leading aspirants for the Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency Seat; Mr Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, on Wednesday received what many have described as an uncommon blessings from stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in INI Local Government Area.
Mr Ukpong-Udo received the blessings when he, alongside members of his campaign team (Mkpoikana-abasi Campaign Organization), consulted the INI Local Government Chapter of PDP to officially make known his intention to represent the people of the area in the House of Representatives come 2019.
Addressing the party faithful, Mr. Ukpong-Udo said “my aspiration and ambition is borne out of the call to service by my people, the people of this constituency. And having played a pivotal role in the fulfilment of the aspirations of many leaders at different levels, I feel the time has come ripe for me to step into the saddle of leadership and lead the people aright.”
Ukpong-Udo noted that his “desire to represent the people at the lower Chambers of the National Assembly is guided by the law of posterity,” adding that he was in the race to complete the second term mandate given to Ikono Local Government Area.
He also promised the INI Local Government Chapter of PDP a new Secretariat, employment opportunities when elected as the man that will champion the affairs of the people at the House of Representatives.
Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders of the area, erstwhile Chief Whip of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Chief Ukata Akpan, said “having looked through Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo’s pedigree, antecedence, track record and his contribution to the growth and progress of the party in Ikono, INI and Akwa Ibom State at large, he is qualified to represent the good people of Ikono/INI in the National Assembly.”
Chief Ukata, who is also the Patron of the Mkpoikana-abasi Campaign Organization, assured the people of effective representation, should they elect Ukpong-Udo, maintaining that his humane, philanthropic and patriotic disposition towards humanity were testaments to that fact.
“I am sure that such rare attributes that Ukpong-Udo has been exhibiting, even as a private sector person, will be maintained and sustained when we elect him to represent us at the lower chamber,” he said.
In his remarks, the INI Chapter Chairman of PDP, Mr. Emmanuel Umah, thanked the aspirant and members of his campaign team for the recognition done the party, saying Ukpong-Udo’s visit was in line with the party’s determined position of an all-inclusive leadership.
He said “PDP is poised to create a condusive political atmosphere where the interests of all its members are protected.”
Other stakeholders who spoke were Engr Edet Umotong, Hon Inyangidim, Mr David Akpan Ntuk among others.
Highpoint of the event was the official presentation of the Aspirant by Members of the Mkpoikana-abasi Campaign Organization to the Chapter Chairman and Stakeholders of PDP in Ini Local Government Area likewise the presentation of gift items.
