A Presidential Aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Governor of Sokoto State; Alhaji Atahiru Bafarawa, on Monday consulted with the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the party.
The visit, which took place at the State Secretariat of the Party in Uyo, had the Members of the State Executive Committee, chapter chairmen, stakeholders of the party alongside members of his Campaign Team in attendance.
Speaking, Alhaji Bafarawa, who took out time to enumerate the many successes that he has recorded as a committed and devoted politician since 1976, thanked supporters and party faithful for the honour done him, expressing optimism that such show of love will translate to electoral support during the forthcoming Presidential primary election as well as the general elections.
The aspirant also expressed confidence that he will emerge victorious.
According to him, if elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he will reciprocate the gesture by way of ensuring that the state benefits handsomely from the dividends of democracy at the center under his watch.
In his response, the State Chairman and Chairman, Conference of State Chairmen of PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, thanked the aspirant for coming to consult the state chapter of the party, maintaining that “it is the vote basket of the party. Akwa Ibom State Chapter of PDP has the highest number of delegates that will participate in the forthcoming primary election.”
Obong Ekpo enjoined the aspirant and members of his campaign team to engage in activities that will project the party positively and in line with the party constitution, adding that this will contribute immensely in the rebranding and repositioning process of the party.
While presenting the chapter’s memoirs to the aspirant, Obong said there will be rancour free and peaceful primary and general elections, if the party constitution is adhered to.
