Akwa Ibom State Government has waded into the ongoing crisis between the ExxonMobil and over 800 disengaged spy policemen in the company.
Addressing aggrieved personnel who has been picketing the operational base of the company at the Qua Iboe Terminal (QIT), Ibeno local government area, for days now, Governor Udom Emmanuel appealed to the protesting staff to remain calm,assuring that all their legitimate entitlements would be paid.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, the Governor summoned a meeting with the representatives of the disengaged workers tomorrow, Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in Uyo.
He appealed to the protesters to stop picketing of the company, pending when the impasse would be amicably resolved between the ExxonMobil, PENGASSSAN and the spy policemen as well as its lawyer, Femi Falana.
Recall that over 800 spy policemen of the company were laid off by ExxonMobil on Friday, July 13, 2018 following judgement passed by the supreme court on April 20, 2018 in favour of the affected workers asking ExxonMobil to pay them their entitlements.
