The attention of the Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties Akwa Ibom State, Mr Akan Okon has been drawn to widespread rumour on the media, alleging that he has been invited by the Economics and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC).
Ordinary, the Honourable Commissioner would not have dignified such infantile and baseless allegations with a reply, as it holds no water, but for the innocent public who may be misinformed, it is needful to put the record straight.
For the avoidance of doubts, Mr Akan Okon has at no point, been invited by any anti-graft agency, including the EFCC, formally or informally. Such invitation is needless and not foreseeable, given the fact that he has never engaged in any underhand dealings, whatsoever, from his time as Commissioner in the Ministry of Finance.
It is pertinent to state clearly that the Honourable Commissioner is a prudent manager with thorough professional training and follows due process in his dealings as a government appointee and will always do.
Finally, while the general public should disregard such insinuations as mere political mischief aimed at tarnishing the hard-earned reputation of the Honourable Commissioner, those peddling falsehood should also desist from such, as it is not only misleading, but not in the best interest of the development of our dear State.
Personal Assistant (Media and Publicity),
to the Honourable Commissioner.
