….as AKHA resolves to partner Traders in executing MDP

The Speaker of Akwa Ibom House of Assembly; Rt Hon. Onofiok Luke has described the Special Assistant to the Governor on Traders Matters; Akparawa Idorenyin Raphael as an Exemplary Leader. He also pledged the Assembly’s resolve to partner the Akwa Ibom Traders in the execution of Market Development Plan(MDP) in the State as proposed by the State Government.
The Speaker, Rt Hon. Onofiok Luke made this known recently when Members of the State Executive Council of Akwa Ibom Traders Cooperative Association led by its President; Akparawa Idorenyin Raphael paid him a courtesy visit at the VIP Lounge, AKHA Complex.
Addressing the August Visitors, Speaker Luke lauded the Leader of the Group who doubles as the Special Assistant to the Governor on Traders Matters and Chairman, South-South/South-East Caucus of the Nigerian Traders; Akparawa Idorenyin Raphael, for his exemplary leadership Skill that he has exhibited which has birthed the new dawn of an unprecedented Unity among traders across the State.
Luke described his appointment as a square peg in a square hole, considering his antecedents and record breaking strides that he has made for the success of this government especially in the area of mobilizing Traders across the state to unanimously support the Udom Emmanuel led State Government. “He has surely proven that His Excellency Mr Udom Emmanuel made the right choice of appointing him into the office”.
“I appreciate the Special Assistant to the Governor on Traders Matters; Akparawa Idorenyin Raphael for his doggedness, Selfless Effort and Team work Spirit that he has exhibited since he was given appointment”. Speaking further, the Speaker said, “He has proven beyond any reasonable doubt that he has not forgotten why and those that made him who he is today because he has gathered his wealth of experience as a Trader and that of other long-standing Traders to facilitate the unity and peaceful coexistence among Traders across the state thereby registering unanimously an unalloyed loyalty of the Traders to the leader of the State”.
“The Success of championing the course of bringing unity among traders in the state is the testimony that we see today , that is why it is easy for the State Government under the leadership of Mr Udom to aprove the release of loan facilities for the traders, appoint one of you his Aide, Donate Vehicle to ease your activities, Approve Free Ticket Days, construct modern markets and lots more “.
“Raphael has proven that he was appointed into public office to help others and his good leadership approach has made the Traders benefit from the Dividends of democracy under the leadership of Mr Udom Emmanuel and this has gone a long way to enabling the Traders sustain independence in their field of endeavor”. ” This is unprecedented and very remarkable “.
Mr Speaker used the medium to charge the Leadership of the Association to take the devine message of engaging in trading activities that is Godly to their fellow Traders in all markets across the State, stressing that a business founded on the principles of Truth and Divine Direction will stand a test of time.
He also encouraged the Traders to always keep the markets clean because Cleanliness is next to Godliness and continue in their renewed ways of registering tremendous goodwill and overwhelming support to the State Government, so that together we all can step out in faith and rewrite the story of Economic/Trading Activities in the state while promising to henceforth be sending special invitation to the Traders to be part of any Public hearing on any Bill to be passed by the Assembly.
His words, “In line with Dakkada Philosophy of the Governor, it is incumbent on all of us, Traders inclusive, to corporate with the State Government by taking a bold step to key into the philosophy, so that our determined decision to march to greatness will be rebranded by the orientation that Mr Udom Emmanuel led Government has instituted”.
Mr Speaker hinted that the 6th Assembly has passed the Bill seeking to establish Akwa Ibom Micro Finance Development Agency sent in by Governor Udom Emmanuel,maintaining that, the bill after the assent by the Governor in a short while will afford the Traders ample opportunity to access loan facilities at will so that more finances may be injected into our Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurship (SMES) which he describe as the engine of any strong economy.
The Speaker admonished the Traders to be more focused and serious in their Trading activities, while charging them to encourage their children to also engage in Trading but in an upgraded status that will enable them participate in Online and 24hrs Trading Activities in the state which he said will Change the economic fortune of the state in an unimaginable manner.
He pledged the 6th Assembly’s resolve to support the administration of Mr Emmanuel to succeed by partnering with the Traders to ensure that the Market Development Plan which is very key in any developing state and is known to be a Social Developtment Project as proposed by the Government see the light of the day as soon as possible, adding that he will be instrumental to the meeting of the Traders with the Governor anytime soon to finalise all these lofty ideas.
Speaking earlier on behalf of the Traders, Mr Raphael congratulated the speaker on his election to represent his constituents and subsequent election as the Speaker of the 6th House of Assembly, while expressing his profound gratitude for the honour done on the Traders by granting the audience even with a short period of notice and for the contributions the Speaker has made to the success of this Government by enacting functional laws that culminates to creating a serene economic atmosphere for Trading activities to thrive.
He expressed his overwhelming gratitude to the Governor for having found the Traders worthy to have a representative in his Government, appealing that the Traders be carried along in all the Government programs, establishment of a Microfinance Bank, More Financial Assistance to Traders, Harmonisation of Taxes, immediate Government intervention over Market Fire Incidence, increment in Trading Investment, initiation of Trading Policy and inclusion of Traders in Council,Boards and other Government Parastatals among others, so that the Skye might be the stepping stone for all the Traders in the State to make more economic exploits.
High point of the visit was the conferment of “Idorenyin Mbon Urua” on the Speaker by the Traders and the presentation of customised Shirt well inscribed “Udom Anyama, Eti Mkpo Urua”.
In attendance were Rt Hon Ime Okon, Hon Aniefiok Denis, Hon Effiong Bassey, Hon Otobong Akpan, Members of the State Executive of the Association, Members of the BoT of the Association, other Stakeholders of the Association among others.
