The State Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party, Akwa Ibom; Comrade Ini Ememobong has said that the newly furnished Ibibio Union Museum with Art works will serve as a place to preserve unadulterated History in the state because the Oral Tradition of preserving history in Africa is ineffective and inefficient due to either deliberate inclusion or removal of a point of history. He stated this when he visited the museum yesterday.
Comrade Ememobong who was welcomed by the Hon Commissioner for Culture and Tourism; Hon Victor Antai accompanied by other Aides to the Governor on Tourism; Hon Sandy, Miss Ini Edo likewise Kemen, Thin Tall Tony and Uriel of Big Brother Naija, got extremely thrilled by the various beautiful art works in the museum. Also, he was so touched by the overwhelming idea behind the diverse historical representations in the art works.
In his comment on the guest register, Ini Ememobong stated that “the Innovative Exhibition that Hon. Victor Antai has brought to bear has a great capacity to transport the guest from the present day harsh reality of economic want and depression to an illusive world of bliss and content.
He added that, A person who allows himself to be immersed in the aura of this exhibition looses a sense of time and only recovers when his phone or circumstances external, jerk him back to reality. Coming in is with apprehension, leaving is with the pain of loss( Of Bliss howbeit temporal) but however, it is a great thought with great execution and may it be sustained….he concluded.
Nevertheless, in an interview after being led round the museum, he commended Hon Antai for making the vision of His Excellency, Arc. Obong Victor Attah come to fruition through a complemented effort of His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel. Indeed, the exhibition had a beautiful start with great thinking and a wonderful execution….he said. Also, he said ” Man enjoys exhibition like this which eventually would help in proper development of the mind because you cannot feature in a future that you cannot picture”.
He advised that as we have the Afrocentric view of the Exhibition, we should look forward to having Eurocentric view, American view, Asian View etc so that at the end, the conglomeration of these views would birth an International Arts Festival where African Arts will compete with American arts etc on African Soil.
Finally, he promised to support the ministry to do more in the State for the sake of posterity.
