What would be the grounds or gravament of the so-called “impeachment”? Those National Assemblymen who are rooting for and toying with mythical impeachment, believing verily that all that there is in that process is the mathematics and calculus of sheer numbers (which they even have the uphill task of mustering) are probably not reckoning with the stark reality that when they toy with impeachment in a mood that is so glaringly suggestive of “CORRUPTION FIGHTING BACK”, as is so evident in the instant case, there is a phenomenon called “plebiscitary democracy” which their ill-motivated action will uncork, implying that they will have counterveiling actions by the public – protest demonstrations, including “Operation Occupy the National Assembly”, etc, by civil society organizations, organized labour and the mass of Nigerians and the general public at large, whose votes achieved the unimaginable in the 2015 Elections, to contend with. That’s just to say the least here. A stage may be reached in that cataclytic phenomenon in which sychophants like Dino Melaye (who are prepared to throw legislative decorum and personal honour to the wind in order to prove blind loyalty to leadership by tagging themselves robbots who are prepared to go into battle, blindfolded, in defence of even embattled leadership) proverbially or habitually find themselves acting beneath their dignity by jumping over National Assembly Gates and scampering for shelter and safety. What can rational men and women say then than lament: “How are the Mighty fallen” !!!
